Metoclopramide is a very popular drug and it has many uses. The main purpose of Metoclopramide is to help relieve the symptoms of acid reflux and heartburn. Generic brands of this medication are available, but you should speak with your primary health care provider before making a decision. If your primary health care provider is not available, you can speak with your pharmacist about the various generic brands.
You should speak with your primary health care provider if you are planning to take or are taking Metoclopramide and thyroid medications. Your primary health care provider will also need to know all of the medications that you are taking or planning to take. There can be drug interactions that you need to watch out for.
Taking Metoclopramide is safe during pregnancy but you must make sure that you tell your primary health care provider if you are pregnant or if you plan to become pregnant during your treatment. He or she will offer guidance to you at that time.
Although serious side effects are rare, there are some Metoclopramide side effects that you should be aware of during your treatment. Less serious side effects include: depression, diarrhea, difficulty sleeping, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, menstrual changes, restlessness, nervousness, and sexual difficulties (decreased sexual desire or impotence).

If you are thinking of using this medication for your pet, you should speak with your vet. Metoclopramide and feline vomiting has been one use of the medication in the past as well using Metoclopramide for dogs. Using Metoclopramide for dogs should be left up to your vet.
It may take a few weeks for your stomach condition to improve on this medicine. Do not stop using it until your primary health care provider says it is okay to do so.
