Zovia products are effective as oral contraceptives. These are also known as birth control pills. These products combine natural or synthetic estrogens and progestins, similar to the natural sex hormones (estrogen and progesterone) produced in a woman's body.
Ethinyl estradiol is an estrogen and ethynodiol diacetate is a progestin. These products can prevent ovulation and pregnancy. A combination of estrogen and progestin works better than a single-ingredient product. Ethinyl estradiol/ethynodiol diacetate tablets can also help regulate menstrual flow, treat acne or may be used for other hormone related problems in females. The type and amount of estrogen and/or progestin may be different from one product to another and for this reason you should only take the product that your doctor orders for you.
Generic Zovia is available but you should consult with your doctor or pharmacist before you choose one in order to make sure that you are getting something that is similar to what you need.
There can be Zovia side effects that users should be aware of while taking the drug. Some of the side effects may include such things as breast tissue changes or discharge changes in vaginal bleeding during your period or between your periods, headaches or migraines, increases in blood sugar, especially if you have diabetes, increases in blood pressure, especially if you are known to have high blood pressure, symptoms of vaginal infection (itching, irritation or unusual discharge), tenderness in the upper abdomen, vomiting, yellowing of the eyes or skin, breakthrough bleeding and spotting that continues beyond the 3 initial cycles of pills, breast tenderness, mild stomach upset, mood changes, anxiety, depression, frustration, anger, emotional outbursts, increased or decreased appetite, increased sensitivity to sun or ultraviolet light, nausea, skin rash, acne, or brown spots on the skin, tiredness, and weight gain.
It is not uncommon for Zovia and skipped period issues to happen. Nor is it uncommon for Zovia and weight gain issues to become apparent to users.
However, there are some very severe side effects and you should read about those in the product information sheets and talk with your doctor about them. If you notice any of these side effects you should contact your doctor as soon as possible as some side effects may indicate blood clots.
Your primary health care provider is your best source of information on the Zovia birth control drug and you should follow his or her advice and guidance while using it. Again, if you have questions, you should contact your doctor.
